Spa Filters
Exclusive Summary About Spa Filters by Ian W Anderson
Spa filters are one of the most important parts of the spa, although they are generally forgotten about. The spa circulates all of the water through the filter to trap these contaminates. The most common type of spa filter is the sand filter. As the name suggests, this type of filter uses a specific type of sand (and gravel) to remove contaminate particles from your water.
The second type of spa filter is the cartridge filter. The cartridge filter uses a folded polyester mesh or paper material to trap the particles contained in the water. The third type of spa filter is the Diatomaceous Earth filter. This filter works the same way as the others, trapping contaminate in the mesh and DE.
Cleaning Your Spa Filters
Exclusive Summary About Spa Filters by Matthew Gio
1. Rinse your spa filters with clean hose or sink water every week. This will help keep the debris from building up and the chemicals from eating away at your filter material.
2. Every month remove the filters and use a standard filter cleaner or degreaser. Spray the filters down with the cleaners and let them sit for about 15 minutes. Then with a hose rinse the filter thoroughly until all the soapy substance is gone.
3. About every 6 months to a year you should soak your spa filters over night in a muriatic acid solution. Most pool companies will offer this service but if they don't you can purchase muriatic acid at any pool store and dilute it with water. 1 part acid to 3 parts water and soak the filters overnight. The next day give them a good rinse.
